The Bible tells us that salvation is a gift of God’s grace that is received through authentic faith in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation cannot be earned or deserved by the good things we do. Living a perfect life and dying on the cross, Jesus completed all that was needed to provide redemption for sin. Salvation is available to anyone who will put their faith and trust in Him alone for eternal life.
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
Saving faith in Jesus is something that begins in the heart. It causes regret for and repentance of sin as well as a genuine commitment to Christ.
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame, since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on Him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:9-13)
